IN VIEW was installed at Battat Contemporary gallery in Montreal from February-March 2017.
Traces of travels, these photographs have the colours you wish the everyday had - deep blues and lush greens, hazy yellows and the red of potted geraniums. Shot on 35mm film, the photographs exhibit the unmistakable grain of the medium and ethereally capture the passage of time, exposing subtle patinas that become intriguing through Tess’ lens: grime and dust on reflective surfaces, weathered facades, marked monuments. Abstracting the urban landscape and the vernacular architecture of the cities she wanders in, the photographs sublime the commonplace and delicately reveal its beauty.
